About BLIA, NC Chapter
Buddha's Light International Association (BLIA) is the lay service organization of Fo Guang Shan International Buddhist Order. The North Carolina Chapter (BLIA, NC) was established in August 1992 by a group of enthusiastic Buddhists, and
it is currently located at 2529 Prince Drive, Raleigh, NC 27606.
In the early years after inception, the BLIA,NC was based in a facility graciously provided by Dr. and Mrs. Tsong Te Lee. They are the honorary president and the first president of BLIA,NC, respectively.
On a regular basis, BLIA,NC offers numerous activities, such as Buddhist lectures, study groups, annual general meeting, Mother's Day and Mid-Autumn Festival socials, and a choir group. There are other ad-hoc activities, such as chanting services and fund-raising for charities.
Currently, BLIA,NC has about 200 registered members and friends. Open to the public, its activities are routinely attended by families and friends, registered or not. We have a library with many Buddhism-related books, sutras, and audio/video tapes for circulation.
Venerable Chueh Chuan of IBPS, NC leads the group practice on Sundays. Various Buddhist ceremonies are also conducted regularly.
